MS-AND/LAND: Weight Management Virtual Symposium

The Mississippi Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (MS-AND) and the Louisiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (LAND) will host a Weight Management Virtual Symposium on Friday, September 16th from 8:30am-3:40pm. This event will offer 6 hours of continued education (pending approval by CDR) and is open to all members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, non-members, and students!

Delegate’s Report

WOW! Where did the summer go? Hope you got some time to enjoy life!

I would like to focus my requests in this newsletter on asking you to share your thoughts on how technology is impacting your professional activities. Initially you may be thinking about social media platforms (which are important), however our recent Real Time Dialog for Delegates focused some really interesting attention on how other types of new technologies such as clinical software, industry specific technologies, robotics and other innovation platforms (ie. EMRs) require us to change how we complete our work in . We discussed how these technologies and more to come are really requiring nutrition professionals to be much more accepting of change and of learning about many technologies needed to perform routine job functions in new job positions. While dietetic education programs keep current students exposed and learning these, there is a real need to have training in these new emerging technologies for professionals already employed but needing to stay on the cutting edge of professional trends.

Now my ask! I found this so interesting and we concluded that one area that ACEND can be helpful to membership, would be to provide more educational opportunities at FNCE, DPG and State affiliate events by asking more of these companies/industries to become exhibitors, vendors and sponsors. To do this it will be very helpful if you would email me at [email protected] and provide specific names of educational opportunities that would be helpful to you and companies you are interacting with who could provide such opportunities.

The Nominating Committee is accepting nominations for visionary and dedicated individuals for the following 2023 national ballot positions. Nominations for the positions of president-elect, speaker-elect and treasurer-elect close September 2, 2022. Nominations for all other positions are due by October 24, 2022.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited nutrition program and Registration by the American Dietetic Association.
