Nominations & Elections

The 2024 Mississippi Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics elections will take place February 1-15, 2024. There are four elected positions open, and several appointed positions. The term for these elected positions begins June 1, 2024.

The elected positions are:

President-Elect:

  • Serves in this role for one year and at the end of this term, assumes the office of President.
  • The President-elect will support the president in leading the MS Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics towards its strategic direction and values, as well as manages the regional coordinators and oversees the regional events.
  • The role of affiliate President serves as the administrative head of the MS-AND board of directors and oversees programs and projects of the affiliate.
  • This position also serves as Past President one year after serving the year as president.

Requirements:

  • Active or Retired Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Mississippi affiliate
  • 3 year position

Professional Development Chair-elect:

  • The person in this position serves one year in the elect role and at the beginning of the following fiscal year will automatically become the Chair of Professional Development Committee.
  • The responsibilities of the Chair position include: promote quality education programs, assists with continuing professional education (CPE) credit applications for the association and groups within the State, and coordinates the Research Poster session at the Annual MS-AND conference.

Requirements:

  • Active or Retired Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Mississippi affiliate
  • 2 year position

Public Policy Coordinator:

  • This position leads federal legislative initiatives for MS-AND and serves as coordinator of the MS-AND Public Policy Panel.
  • This person also supports MS-AND legislative advocacy and policy-related activities.

Requirements:

  • Active or Retired Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Mississippi affiliate
  • 3 year position

Nominating Committee Member:

  • Serves on the nominating committee for three years (advancing from “member” to “chair-elect” to “chair” each year).
  • This committee coordinates the designation of candidates annually for elected and appointed positions.
  • This committee also gathers nominations for annual MS-AND awards.

Requirements:

  • Active or Retired Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Mississippi affiliate
  • 3 year position
