President’s Message
Just like that, it’s the end of August. By now, some of us have begun the new school year in some form of fashion. It’s a wild time to be a student. It’s definitely wild watching the process as a parent or friend.
This next month the MSAND Board will focus on getting our Affiliate Regions off the ground. If you will remember, MSAND voted to transition our Districts to Regions back in the Spring of 2018. The Board took a look at the effectiveness of the past Districts in the State. With low District memberships, lower volunteer interests and low attendance at meetings, we felt moving to Affiliate Regions would provide more flexibility and less pressure on our members. Instead of a 3-4-person board, each Region will have one Coordinator. The Region Coordinator
will work alongside the State Affiliate to make sure member needs are met.
What’s the advantage? There will be less volunteers needed, less structure and the help of the State Affiliate to run the Region. WINNER! Each Region will have a Coordinator at the helm to guide members thru the year. With that said, if you or someone you know is interested in volunteering as Region Coordinator, please let me or Rachel Whitlock (Affiliate Exec Director know @ [email protected]
We have embedded the new Affiliate Map for your reference. For those that attended the 2019 and 2020 Annual Conferences, this graphic should look familiar!
Have a great month!
